Optoelectronics Industrial Park
Construction of the park started in 2004. The first phase occupies 12 sq km; the second phase, 20 sq km. It has been listed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a National Demonstration Center of New Industrialization (Optoelectronics & Displays) and by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a National Hi-Tech Industrialization Center of Flat Panel Display. The park mainly targets displays (TFT-LCD), energy (solar energy) and lighting (LED) sectors. To date, it has attracted 35 companies across the value chain of optoelectronics, including AGC, IVO, AUO, GVO and Konka.
Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Park
As one of the 10 special industrial parks in Kunshan, this park is situated in the north of Zhoushi Town, covering a planned area of 6 sq km. It is centered on manufacturing large and advanced equipment, such as construction and engineering equipment, smart production equipment, CNC machines and aviation equipment. It has attracted over 180 foreign and domestic companies, including Kawasaki Robotics, Kato and Hiecise. In 2015, the output of the park was valued at RMB 28.56 billion.
Tool & Die Industrial Park
Established in 1998, the industrial park targets electronics and auto companies, having created a complete industrial system that covers tool & die and standard parts, materials, equipment, education and training and auxiliary services. The park has been successively recognized by the state as a "Tool & Die Industrial Center of Torch Program" and an "Innovative Technology-driven Trade Center". As one of China's top 100 industrial clusters, the park produces 10% of the tool & die industry's total output in China—the largest share among its peers in China's county-level cities. By 2015, the park had 1,379 tool & die companies with combined yearly sales of RMB 50 billion.
Kunshan Software Park (KSSP)
Located on the east shore of Yangcheng Lake, the park has attracted 280 companies to its 6-sq km area. In total, it has attracted an investment of RMB 2.1 billion from the domestic private sector and USD 20 million from foreign investors. In 2015, the park reported an output value of RMB 900 million. It has developed various kinds of incubators occupying a built area of 200,000 sqm, including the self-developed National Technology Company Incubator, KSSP Entrepreneur Center, Pudong Software Park in Kunshan (a partnership between Shanghai and Kunshan), CVIC SE (a significant player in cross-straits cooperation), Tianda Numerical Control Park (a pioneering city-university partnership), Ulives E-Commerce Center (with a high concentration of e-commerce companies and talent), China International Animation Industry Alliance Trading Center, Top Institute of Information Technology and the 3D public rendering technology platform.
New Electronic Materials Park
With a planned area of 5.8 sq km, the park has developed a complete printed circuit board (PCB) value chain, ranging from upstream PCB raw materials, electronic chemicals and PCB consumables, to downstream automated welding, SMT and equipment service. The park now hosts 52 PCB manufacturers and 80 associated companies, including Huaxing Electronic Group, Suhang Electronic Group, Wanzheng PCB Company, Huatao Electronics and PRV. In 2015, the sales of the park exceeded RMB 11 billion.
Sensing Technology Park
With a planned area of 3 sq km, the park has cumulatively attracted an investment of RMB 4 billion, creating a hi-tech industry focused on sensors and associated applications. In 2015, the park reaped a total sales revenue of RMB 1.88 billion. The companies based in the park cover a wide range of fields, such as radio frequency identification (RFID), sensing, wireless senor network (WSN), software-enabled processing and system integration. The park features comprehensive and high technology content in its offerings. In the Plan of Jiangsu Province on the Development of Sensor Networks released in 2010, the park was selected as the major supplier of sensors.
Service Outsourcing Park
As an international service outsourcing center of Jiangsu Province, Kunshan reported USD 1,777 million in the contractual value of outsourced services in 2015, a year-on-year growth of 12.3%, and USD 621 million in offshore outsourcing volumes, up 18.4%. A total of 3,087 people were trained in service outsourcing. By the end of 2015, Kunshan had 956 service outsourcing companies in its registry, with a registered capital of RMB 13.1 billion. Among them, 263 were foreign-invested companies, with a combined registered capital of USD 1.683 billion. Forty-four companies had passed CMMI level-3 certification and 12 companies had been designated as technologically advanced service companies. Nearly 30,000 people were employed in this industry.
Robot Industrial Park
Construction of the park began in 2008. It has already attracted 30 advanced robotics companies from home and abroad, with a total investment of RMB 1.5 billion. The companies include Huaheng, Geesun, Comau, Reis Robotics, Austong and Gaosheng. The park's goal for 2016 is to build complete value chains for industrial and smart robots and develop 20 provincial-level R&D and technology centers, with a yearly output of RMB 20 billion.
RNAi Industrial Park
The industrial park is located in KSND and the planned area for its first phase is about 50 acres. The major industry hosted in the park is biomedicine, which is focused on RNAi—a new starting point for the biomedicine industry of Kunshan. The park has attracted many pharmaceutical companies across the value chain of RNAi, ranging from basic R&D to RNAi preparation, synthesis and modification, target selection, drug delivery, clinical research and technology service. Biomedicine companies based in the park include Ribo, Zelgen, GENE, Kangwanda and CTI.
HRG Robot Industrial Park
This project was activated in 2015. The robot project of HIT Robot Group (HRG) in Kunshan is expected to bring in about 30 R&D teams, incubate over 50 companies and pool 1,000 to 1,500 R&D engineers in robotics within five years. By 2020, the park is projected to generate a yearly sales revenue of RMB one billion and contribute RMB 10 billion-worth of growth to industries and services associated with robotics.
